Angels and Astronauts, Alien Bliss, Elvis novel series: Bio

A Brief History of Hodjera

Once upon there was a boy who dreamed music. Notes and harmonies abounded in his imagination where others saw pictures, cartoons, and heard dialogue in theirs. Distracted by the demands of the world, such as it was (and is), the boy learned to ignore the harmonies and melodies in his mind and went to school for the usual number of years. Late in his studies, he began to remember the music. And while he remained convinced that his destiny must lie somewhere in the strange and forbidding land of practicality, the music would not be denied. And as school came to a close and eventually receded down the corridors of memory, rarely to be visited again except anecdotally, music came to be all there was.

Then something amazing happened. Somewhere along the line, a fascination with words took hold. This fascination with words expressed itself in the form of lyrics early on, and later emerged again in full blown fictional stories and finally novels. Words were also a kind of music, he realized, capable of evoking emotions and reminiscences, dissonances and harmonies within the reader through the counterpoint of images, characters and events. In the meantime, people and places came and went, years went by, decades even, but always the music and the words remained.

And now you, fellow traveler, have entered the circle. You have become a part of the life of this work through your interest and attention. I am grateful that you have come by. Perhaps you will find respite here and refreshment. I invite you to make yourself comfortable and linger a while in this physically non-existent place. If you came for the books, I invite you to peruse the music. If you came for the music, I invite you to check out the books. They both came from the same brain, after all. The one in the hat box on the top shelf of my closet. Enjoy!

Blessings on your journey.

Peace,

Michael Hodjera
